Did you have any idea that Oklahoma now ranks among the national leaders in the amount of fishable freshwater? At last count, there were approximately 600,000 surface acres of water inside our borders, just in the largest lakes. There are no less than 65 major reservoirs scattered across our 77 counties. Considering smaller lakes and farm ponds, our fishery biologists with the Oklahoma Wildlife Department have another half-million or so acres to manage and control. Oklahoma's landscape contains more than 300,000 farm ponds and 11,000 Soil Conservation Service, upstream flood control lakes. Those SCS lakes generally range from 10 to as much as 100 acres. And despite all of that standing water, there is still an estimated 23,000 miles of streams left in this state. Located within minutes of Tulsa and the site of beautiful Skiatook Lake
